( Team Russia with Caroline Phillips, Andrey Terekhov and two guys from Romania )
All in all, 3rd and 4th days were pretty cool, I've heard lots of stuff about .NET vs Java, New Cryptographic Approaches and so far.
But the most wonderful event for STUDENTS was on Thursday -- Microsoft Student Partners Programme was opened! Yes, now it is worldwide programme, and yesterday was the kick-off for EMEA Student Partners. All in all, it was lots of interesting materials about Student Partners, Imagine Cup, it was a lot of fun, it were a lot of students from all over the Europe. I've met with Imagine Cup 2006 World Champions, with Imagine Cup 2006 3rd place winners, with Tom from UK Imagine Cup crew and so forth.
Go to http://www.student-partners.com/ and select, for instance, 'Russia' as a country. You will see my photo. Fun ;).

Wow, I have very great news for all of us: Windows Vista and Office 2007 are ready!
The day has began with the KeyNote speech by Eric Rudder, Senior Vice President, Technical Strategy, Microsoft. He told us about upcoming Windows Vista, Office 2007 (already released), Visual Studio, about developers opportunities, about Imagine Cup and so forth.
My 1st session was 'Enhancing Managed .NET 2.0 Applications for Muti-Core Inte Processors' by Rami Radi. Key features are VTune, IPP, ThreadChecker and so on. I'm gonna try it cause the perfomane wvwn of simple photo app can increase considerably by using multi-threading, and these Intel software could give lots of advice about that.
The 2nd session was about C# Tips and Tricks by Karen Liu. She has shown us delegates, anonymous types and such cool stuff in C# from 1.0 to 3.0.
Then it was session by Anders Hejlsberg about Language Integrated Query. Wow! That's GREAT stuff! You can do really great things like selecting some data from SQL Server and converting it to XML with only 5 lines of very cute code.
The subject of the 4th session was 'Inking in WPF'. Nice :). Now I can develop apps for my tablet.
Well, I know, all this stuff just impressions with no concrete details and code but I'll definitely provide some cool experience from all these talks on upcoming Microsoft conferences and UserGroup meetings.
Hey, I forgot -- after all these cool talks there was the Expo with Microsoft and Microsoft partners. Very cool ooportunity to talk with Microsoft employees about all utting-edge techs like Windows Vista, Windows SideShow, Office Live Meeting, Virtual Earth and so on.
And, of course, it was Imagine Cup scene with two winners of Imagine Cup 2006, Microsoft ADEs and MSPs. Wow! I'm totally insipred! Imagine Cup rocks!

Hey, I've just listened to Anders Hejlsberg about Innovations in C# 3.0. Wow, there're lots of cool features in the new version of langugage. I'm going to write about them a it later, OK? As well as about Day # 1 of TechEd Developers 06, Imagine Cup Expo and many other cool sessions and speakers.
Yesterday was the day #0 -- Pre-Conference Day of one of the most wonderful events in Barcelona, Spain in 2006 -- Microsoft TechEd Developers.
Event's organization is really great -- you know, it's Microsoft event.
As far-seeing developers and evangelists we have decided to go to the PRE007 sessions: 'What's coming in .NET 3.0 -- Full immersion'. Our decision was right -- we have heard a lot of interesting and up-to-date information about 'Triple W': WCF, WF and WPF.
I'm really inspired with Microsoft Workflow Foundation -- to my mind, it is very useful framework for scientists with no previous software engineering experience. With Workflow Foundation they can concentrate on solving problems of their knowledge domain but not on low-level problems like garbage collection, implementing of linked list or some other work that SDE should do. As for WPF presentation - it has excited all of us -- possibilities of WPF are really broad: it divides data, UI controls and layout, it provide us with a lot of features that combine Flash, DirectX and HTML, it is powerful! With WPF you can create a very-very-very out-standing, creative, really awesome UI of you program.
Well, if you are interested in .NET 3.0 (you should be :)) I advice you to visit the special site http://net3fx.com, read manuals about it, download and try provided samples and play with it yourself.
I'm going to continue writing down my thoughts and impressions (and ones of other students) of TechEd Developers 2006 -- so, if you are interested in it -- stay tuned!

Hey, I bet that anyone could win in Imagine Cup: Interface Design after playing with WPF!
